MANILA, Philippines – The Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) on Wednesday revealed that it is currently investigating two incumbent Cabinet secretaries over allegations of corruption.
“I think dalawa sila e,” PACC Commissioner Greco Belgica said in a Palace briefing.
Belgica, however, refused to name the officials as the investigation is ongoing.
He noted that the complaints were filed early this year.
“Malapit na matapos then we will submit it to the President,” he said.
Belgica said one of the complaints was filed by an official from the Cabinet secretary’s department while the other was lodged by a private citizen.
The two Cabinet members, Belgica added, have been cooperating with PACC investigators.
President Duterte has fired several government officials over allegations of graft and corruption while in office.
He has repeatedly threatened to sack officials even on a “whiff” of corruption.
But the President was also criticized for “recycling” people he had sacked by reappointing them to other government posts. /gsg
