MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte has vetoed the bill seeking to establish a Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) campus in Calauan, Laguna province, Senator Francis Tolentino revealed Wednesday.

Tolentino made the announcement during a hearing of the Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs.

“Hawak hawak ko po ‘yung veto message ni Presidente Duterte na vineto niya yung pagtatatag ng campus ng PUP sa municipality of Calauan sa lalawigan ng Laguna,” Tolentino said.

Under the measure, the campus will be mandated to offer graduate, undergraduate, and short-term technical-vocational courses.

The government will also be mandated to disburse funds for the institution.

The Palace has yet to release a copy of the veto message to the media. /gsg
