DID YOU KNOW: 100th birth anniversary of National Scientist Alfredo Lagmay

Today, Aug. 14, is the 100th birth anniversary of the late National Scientist and University of the Philippines professor emeritus Alfredo Lagmay.

He was considered a great influence in the development of scientific psychology in the Philippines.


Lagmay also founded the Psychological Association of the Philippines in 1962.

He was conferred the title of National Scientist in 1988 and died on Dec. 15, 2005.


In tribute, a building in UP Diliman that houses the Department of Psychology was named after him. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
