Suspected terrorist surfaces, denies link to terror group

MANILA, Philippines – One of the three suspected foreign terrorists appeared before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to clear her name, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said Tuesday.

“The woman is already here but has presented herself to the NBI and has disavowed any terrorist connection,” Guevarra said.

The Bureau of Immigration said the other suspected terrorists have no arrival records.

“In any event, the BI’s Anti-Terror Group is on the alert regarding further movements of these persons,” Guevarra assured.

Earlier, Guevarra ordered the NBI to look into the reported terror threat in parts of Northern Luzon.

While Guevarra did not issue a probe deadline to conclude the probe, he said the NBI has up to the end of the month to submit an initial report. /gsg
