All systems go for PAL, Cebu Pacific flights to, from Hong Kong

MANILA, Philippines – Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Cebu Pacific flights to and from Hong Kong resumed on Tuesday as the protests actions that spilled into the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) have eased.

A number of flights to and from Hong Kong were canceled on Monday evening (August 12) as thousands of pro-democracy protesters gathered at the HKIA / Chek Lap Kok Airport.

In an advisory on Tuesday morning, PAL said the following flights will push through as scheduled:

PR 300 Manila – Hong Kong

PR 301 Hong Kong – Manila

PR 318 Manila – Hong Kong

PR 319 Hong Kong – Manila

PR 306 Manila – Hong Kong

PR 307 Hong Kong – Manila

PR 310 Manila – Hong Kong

PR 311 Hong Kong – Manila

PR 312 Manila – Hong Kong

PAL it continues to “closely monitor the situation and assures the flying public of regular updates.”

Meanwhile, budget carrier Cebu Pacific said it has not canceled any flights to and from Hong Kong on Tuesday.

“For today naman, wala naman kaming cancellations pa. At least for now, wala pang cancellation,” Cebu Pacific spokesperson Charo Logarta-Lagamon said in an interview on dzMM.

Logarta-Lagamon said 80 or 90 Manila-bound passengers are still in Hong Kong after their flight was canceled on Monday due to the protests.

“We are trying to put them on flights today,” Logarta-Lagamon said.

The airline also advised its passengers going to Hong Kong to put their travel plans on hold if it is not urgent to avoid any complications.

“We are encouraging our passengers na may flight mula ngayon hanggang August 15 na kung hindi naman po urgent at pwede namanipagpaliban ang pagbiyahe na i-postpone na lang muna.” /gsg
