/ 09:47 PM December 21, 2011

Authorities are waiting for an arrest warrant to be issued against the man who allegedly shot and wounded Talk ’N Text (TNT) center Ali Peek following the filing of a case against him with the Mandaluyong City Prosecutor’s Office.

Senior Superintendent Amando Bolalin, Mandaluyong police chief, said Wednesday that Edgardo Vite was charged last week with frustrated murder by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

The police, however, deliberately keep quiet about the filing of the case in the hopes of capturing Vite who remains at large.

Two witnesses have positively identified him as Peek’s shooter based on a computer-generated image released to the public by the police.

FEATURED STORIES

“We have verified information given by a tipster and found [it] reliable,” Bolalin said.

Peek, a Filipino-American who plays center for TNT in the Philippine Basketball Association, was about to get into his car at around 7:15 p.m. on November 7 when a man shot him in the nape.

The shooting occurred in the parking lot of RFM Gym at the corner of Sheridan and Pioneer streets in Mandaluyong City.

Robbery has been ruled out as the motive in the shooting because, according to Peek, his attacker did not take anything from him.

Investigators, however, have yet to determine why there was an attempt on his life.
