Car catches fire in QC

MANILA, Philippines — A car caught fire while traversing the northbound lane of C-5 Road in Quezon City on Friday afternoon.

Police Lt. Col. Romulus Gadaoni, of the Eastwood police station, said in a report that a Toyota Corolla GLI 1995 model, with an unknown plate number, burst into flames near Megatent Events Venue in Barangay Bagumbayan at around 12:45 p.m.

Initial investigation showed that the owner of the car, identified as Charlie Cruz, was traveling along Eulogio Rodriguez Jr. Avenue (C-5) when he noticed the smell of gasoline and sensed that something was burning. 

Cruz alighted the car upon reaching the area near the Mega Tent Events Venue in Barangay Bagumabayan to check.

Whe he popped the car hood open, he saw a fire already engulfing the engine portion of the vehicle.

Cruz then reported the incident to a security guard who called the help of fire fighters.

The blaze was completely extinguished after 15 minutes. No one was hurt during the incident.

Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the blaze. /jpv
