MANILA, Philippines – Several local government units and educational institutions have opted to suspend classes for Friday, August 9, amid continuous rain and impending floods.

These areas have declared no classes for Friday:

Ilocos Region:

Urbiztondo, Pangasinan — pre-school to high school, both public and private

Mapandan, Pangasinan — all levels, both public and private

Infanta, Pangasinan — all levels, both public and private

Mangaldan, Pangasinan — day care until high school, both public and private

Mangatarem, Pangasinan – pre-school to senior high school, both public and private

Abra — all levels, both public and private

Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon)

Cavite province — all levels, both public and private

Rizal province — afternoon classes, all levels, both  public and private

Western Visayas:

Iloilo City – pre-school to senior high school, both public and private

In its severe weather bulletin, the weather bureau said moderate to heavy rain is expected over the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Batanes, the Babuyan Group of Islands, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro and northern portions of Palawan (including Calamian Islands).

Light to moderate with intermittent heavy monsoon rains are also expected to prevail over Metro Manila, Western Visayas, and the rest of CALABARZON, Central Luzon, and MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan)
