MANILA, Philippines — “If it’s my time, it’s my time. But at least I did something for the country.”

Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) board member Sandra Cam said this on Thursday as she remained unfazed despite exposing corruption in the agency.

“I did receive a lot of death threats, but you know me from the very start, I’m for la patria — for the country,” Cam said in an interview over ANC’s “Headstart.”

Cam first asked President Rodrigo Duterte to relieve her of her duties saying that she cannot tolerate the corruption happening at the PCSO involving retired generals.

Duterte later ordered the shutdown of all gaming activities operated by the PCSO, which included lotto.

Days  after, Duterte lifted the ban but only for lotto operations.

“Kung hindi ako magsalita, sinong magsasalita?” Cam went on to say, fighting back tears.

“I would fight with them because God is with me. Sa tagal na nakipaglaban ako sa ganitong klaseng tao, hindi niyo pa naman ako napapatay but I’m not fearful for my life,” she added.

Before becoming PCSO board member, Cam rose to prominence for being the whistleblower in the jueteng scandal that helped led to the ouster of former President Joseph Estrada. /jpv
