Manila dorms to be checked after hidden cam found in toilet

MANILA, Philippines — Dormitories and boarding houses in Manila will be inspected after a landlord was arrested for allegedly installing a hidden camera in a bathroom.

Executive Order No. 25, which Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso signed on Tuesday night, created a committee to check whether dormitories were operating in compliance with city regulations, including the building and fire codes.

Earlier, Noe Nodalo, 69, owner of a dormitory on Dela Fuente Street in Sampaloc District, was arrested for violation of the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Law.

A police report said one of Nodalo’s tenants became suspicious when he asked her why there was a man in the bathroom.

Wondering how Nodalo knew, she checked the bathroom and found a hidden camera installed at a wall clock inside the bathroom.

She reported him to barangay officials who called the police. —Nikka G. Valenzuela
