Hanna slightly intensifies; to bring rain to most parts of Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Storm Hanna (Lekima) grew slightly stronger early Monday as it continued to enhance the southwest monsoon, the state weather bureau said.

The storm is not likely to make landfall but it will bring rains in most parts of Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

Hanna, spotted 940 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, blew maximum sustained winds 75 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 90 kph. It was moving north northwest at 15 kph.

Cavite, Batangas and Mimaropa will experience monsoon rains, Pagasa said.

Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cenral Luzon, Bicol Region, Western Visayas and the rest of Calabarzon will have cloudy skies with scattered rains also due to the southwest monsoon.

The trough of Hanna will affect Cagayan Valley with cloudy skies with scattered rains.

The rest of Visayas and Mindanao will have fair weather and chances of isolated rains.

Hanna is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Friday.
