Cop drowns in pool during swimming training

MANILA, Philippines — A swimming course turned tragic after a policeman assigned to Marikina drowned in the swimming pool of Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig on Saturday (Aug 3) afternoon.

A report from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) identified the policeman as Cpl. Adonis Serrano, 28, assigned to to Police Community Precinct 9 of Marikina City.

According to results of initial investigation, police officers were checking on participants in the Basic Swimming Course when they discovered that Serrano was missing around noon.

After 10 minutes, they found Serrano’s lifeless body in the swimming pool.
