SAN PEDRO CITY –– Afternoon classes were suspended in several areas in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon on Friday amid the downpour triggered by the southwest monsoon.
But Alex Masiglat, information officer of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, said they had still to monitor any flooding or landslide incident concerning the inclement weather.
No local government has also enforced a preemptive evacuation yet, although rivers and tributaries across the region remained under close monitoring, he said.
In Rizal, the provincial government has declared class cancellation at all levels.
Classes were suspended in Imus City, Dasmariñas City, Cavite City, Ternate, and Rosario in Cavite, according to its provincial disaster response officer Rhoda Periodico.
Periodico said these were mostly the “low lying” areas of the province that are prone to flood. /lzb
