CAAP: No terminal fee for studes in 42 airports

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Thursday began exempting students from paying the P200 terminal fee in the 42 airports operated by the agency.

In a July 26 memorandum issued by CAAP Director General Jim Sydiongco, students enrolled in nursery, kindergarten, elementary, secondary, college, vocational and training schools may avail themselves of the fee exemption.

Not qualified for exemption are enrollees in dancing, driving and culinary arts schools, short-term courses or seminar-type studies, medicine and law courses, as well as masteral and doctoral studies.

Passengers using Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Mactan-Cebu International Airport, Clark International Airport and Caticlan Airport, which are not under the CAAP, are not included in the fee exemption.

Terminal fees, officially known as the domestic passenger service charge, are used to partly finance the maintenance of passenger facilities in the airports.

Malasakit help desks located at the CAAP-operated airports will serve as certification and refund counters for the processing of exemptions.
