MANILA, Philippines – The low pressure area (LPA) east of the country has entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Thursday.
The LPA is not likely to develop into a tropical depression but its extension /trough will bring rain over parts of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
The weather disturbance was last spotted 460 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes.
The trough of the LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Bicol region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga and Davao region.
Monsoon rains are expected over Pangasinan, Zambales and Bataan.
Meantime, Tropical Storm Wipha (international name) was monitored off extreme Northern Luzon and will enhance the prevailing southwest monsoon.
“Wipha”, however, is moving away from the country and is expected to make landfall in China.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers. /gsg
