Village councilor gunned down in Laguna

SAN PEDRO CITY –– A village councilor was shot dead right in front of his house in Biñan City, Laguna late Tuesday night, police said on Wednesday.

The victim was identified as Romeo Manalo, a councilor in Barangay dela Paz.

In a text message, Col. Eleazar Matta, Laguna police director, said Manalo was standing outside his residence when unknown assailants shot him several times at 11:45 p.m.

Manalo, who suffered multiple bullet wounds, died on the way to a hospital.

Police have yet to determine the possible motive as the case was still under investigation. /lzb
