Drug suspect gunned down in Lucena sting

LUCENA CITY – Police shot and killed a drug suspect who reportedly resisted arrest after a buy-bust operation here before midnight Tuesday.

Frederick Caalam was shot dead after he drew a .45 caliber pistol and tried to shoot a police officer who was about to arrest him for selling shabu” (crystal meth) to an undercover informant in Barangay Marketview at around 10:20 p.m., Lucena police chief Lt. Col.  Reydante Ariza, said.

Caalam died on the spot.
Authorities recovered the fatality’s firearm and a sachet of shabu.

Caalam, police said, was a known drug pusher in the area. /.gsg
