NPD cop, 3 others fall for alleged drug trafficking in Valenzuela
MANILA, Philippines — A policeman from the Northern Police District (NPD) and his three accomplices were arrested Saturday morning for their alleged involvement in illegal drug transactions in Valenzuela City.
A report from NPD identified the policeman as Patrolman Jun Acosta, 32, who is assigned at the District Police Intelligence Operation Unit (DPIOU) of NPD.
Also arrested were Acosta’s live-in partner Vanessa Bayani, 28, and two other alleged cohorts namely Marianne Salas, 34; and Randy Delos Santos, 37.
The arrest came after a confidential informant reported to police about the illegal drug transactions in McArthur Highway Malinta in Valenzuela City.
Elements of the Valenzuela police then conducted a buy-bust operation in the area where an undercover policeman bought shabu from the suspects.
Article continues after this advertisementSeized were six pieces of shabu, marked money worth P500, PNP identification card of Acosta, a Yamaha motorcycle and a Honda motorcycle.
Article continues after this advertisementThe suspects were brought to the Valenzuela police station as charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against them.
