CITY OF ILAGAN –– Lotto bettors and outlet operators here on Saturday were surprised by President Duterte’s order to stop all gaming activities under the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

Lotto outlet teller Solita Delos Reyes, who oversees a shop at the Northstar Mall in Alibagu village here, said she was told by her employer that Mr. Duterte’s order was official and that they had to immediately stop their operation.

“Wala nang kita, wala pang suweldo, sarado kami eh (No income, no salary. We are already closed.),” she told the Inquirer.

Bettors who queued at lotto outlets said they were also shocked to learn about the nationwide crackdown on PSCO gaming activities.

Felix Cuntapay said he was supposed to play for the jackpot prize after getting three correct numbers during last night’s game.

Duterte ordered the stoppage of all PCSO gaming outlets nationwide due to alleged massive corruption in the agency. /lzb
