MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte’s order to stop all gaming schemes of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) could only be “a temporary suspension,” Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said Saturday.

“I myself was surprised but it could be a temporary suspension only. The PCSO is directly under the Office of the President. Let’s wait for further pronouncements,” Guevarra said in a statement sent to reporters.

Guevarra was referring to Duterte’s order to shut down PCSO gaming outlets due to alleged massive corruption hounding the agency.

Guevarra also noted that they will wait for further details on the alleged corruption at the PCSO before conducting an investigation against the agency.

“I’ll just wait for some particulars on the alleged corruption at the PCSO,” Guevarra said when asked if the Department of Justice will order the National Bureau of Investigation to investigate PCSO’s alleged corruption. /jpv
