The Taguig government is building a 17-story “state-of-the-art” City Hall that boasts of a convention center with a seating capacity of 600, aside from gardens, a food court and a gymnasium.
The new building under construction on Pedro Cayetano Boulevard in Barangay Ususan “[will be] unified by the strategy of contrasts” concept—an effort to strike a balance between the old and the new, and a homage to Taguig’s identity as a “probinsyudad.”
The first four floors will be a “glass cube” that will house the city convention center.
On the lobby of the fourth floor, residents can charge their mobile devices while transacting business.
The rest of the floors will house the different offices, with an atrium providing natural lighting.
The inspiration for the mayor’s office and his staff’s workspaces from the 12th to 15th floors is the “bahay na bato” architecture. A rectangular glass box punctuated with stainless ventanillas, the frame will be lit up at night.
The new building will have gardens on the 4th and 17th floors, as well as meeting pavilions, a garden-pond, a food court and a gym.
The parking podium can accommodate more than 300 cars and 200 motorcycles.
Expected to be completed in 2021, the new City Hall will be Taguig’s fourth. The current one in Barangay Tuktukan was completed in 1959 and had been renovated thrice.
