Senior citizen nabbed for keeping guns, ammo with expired license in Makati City

MANILA, Philippines – A man was arrested after police caught him in possession of firearms and ammunition with an expired license in Makati City on Thursday afternoon.

Police identified the suspect as Jose Samala, 69, a retired city bank worker.

Elements of Makati police station served a search warrant issued by Judge Rosario Ester Orda Caise of Makati Branch 234 Regional Trial Court on Samala inside his home along Cabanillas Street in Barangay La Paz at around 3 p.m.

Seized were glock 9mm gun; 9mm gun; caliber .380 gun; caliber 22 gun; more than 500 pieces of ammunition; three holsters; magazine pouch; Beretta suppressor and magazine.

Maj. Gideon Ines, chief inspector of Makati City police, said the suspect’s sister reported to police about the unrenewed license of firearms.

“Isa pa ito ay pinahuli ng kanyang kapatid. Nag-aaway-away silang magkakapatid. ‘Yung kapatid na babae na kababata niya pinahuli siya,” Ines told the reporters after serving the search warrant.
