Brothers’ fight over ‘tulingan’ leads to hacking

DAGUPAN CITY–An argument over a piece of fish led a man to hack his brother on Wednesday, police said.

Carlos Pugad, 60, survived the attack but suffered hack wounds inflicted by his brother Mamerto, 65.

Both are residents of Cabuyao, Bolinao, Pangasinan.

Police said Carlos barged into Mamerto’s house and demanded his share of tulingan (mackerel tuna).

The two then had a heated argument, which led Mamerto to attack his younger brother with a bolo.

Carlos was taken to a hospital for treatment while Mamerto is now in police custody. YOLANDA SOTELO/TSB
