Motorcycle driver shot dead in Leyte town

TACLOBAN CITY –– A motorcycle-for-hire driver was shot dead by still unknown perpetrators in Dulag town, Leyte province on Tuesday morning.

Reports from the regional police headquarters based in Palo town, Leyte, said Alexander Asis, 59, was driving his motorcycle along the national highway in Barangay Rizal when one of two men aboard a motorcycle shot him.

Rural health unit personnel brought Asis to the Leyte Provincial Hospital based in Palo, but a physician declared him dead on arrival.

The town police had yet to determine the identities of the perpetrators and the motive behind the killing. /lzb
