Duterte to convene Ledac soon – Palace
MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte will convene the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (Ledac) soon, Malacañang said Wednesday.
“PRRD (President Rodrigo Roa Duterte) will convene the LEDAC soon. We just have to find a schedule,” Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said in a text message.
Asked if how soon, he said, “We still have to make the necessary arrangements.”
But he noted that the Ledac usually convenes in August.
“Remember kaka organize pa lang ng House and Senate. And they haven’t fully organized yet in terms of electing Chairpersons, Vice Chairs and members of the committees. So let’s give them some time first before PRRD convenes Ledac,” he added.
Nograles comment was sought after Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco on Tuesday urged Duterte to convene the Ledac to fast-track the passage of the priority measures of the Chief Executive.
During his fourth State of the Nation Address, the President urged Congress to pass his priority bills, which include the re-imposition of death penalty, the postponement of the May 2020 barangay elections to October 2022 and the tax reform package 2.
During the 17th Congress, only nine out of the 17 bills certified as urgent by President were passed into law. /muf
