Village chief gunned down as he, wife, others left restaurant

MIDSAYAP, Cotabato—A village chief was killed and three others were wounded in a gun attack in front of a restaurant in Poblacion 8 of this town on Monday, July 22.

Killed was Alcon Tubasan, 44, village chair of Tumbras. He suffered two gunshot wounds in the chest and another wound in the abdomen, according to Makon Gumaga, village secretary of Tumbras.

Gumapa said Tubasan’s wife, Armia, and brothers in law were wounded in the attack, which came as Tubasan and his party were leaving the restaurant.

Tubasan had been charged with illegal possession of firearms when he was still village councilor after he was caught carrying an unlicensed gun on May 4, 2018./TSB
