MANILA, Philippines — Residents in Nueva Ecija and Bataan may have to get their umbrellas ready as heavy to intense rain is expected in their areas on Monday afternoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In a thunderstorm advisory, heavy to intense rain with lightning and strong winds is expected over Nueva Ecija and Bataan over the next two hours.
The above conditions are also being experienced in parts of Metro Manila, Tarlac, Zambales, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Rizal and Quezon province which may persist within two hours.

“All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which includes flash floods and landslides,” the advisory read.
Lightning alert raised
Meanwhile, the state weather bureau also issued a lightning red alert at 2:03 p.m. Monday, causing the suspension of ramp movement for both aircraft and ground personnel at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia)
“The alert is a safety measure taken to prevent any untoward incident from happening when lightnings are prevalent in the immediate area and may endanger personnel, passengers and even flight operations,” Pagasa said. /muf
