MANILA Philippines — Parts of the Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 and C5 South Link projects will be opened to motorists this week.

Public Works Secretary Mark Villar said that a 3.76-kilometer section of the Skyway Stage 3 Section 1 from Buendia to Plaza Dilao ramp will be opened today. The 2-km C5 South Link Segment 3A-1 from Merville to C5, on the other hand, will be operational on Tuesday.

“Skyway Stage 3 Section 1 is not fully completed yet but we are opening two lanes, one each for north and southbound so that vehicular traffic will be dispersed from the congested main roads in the area,” Villar added.

Metro traffic, however, is expected to get heavier in the next six months with the closure of the northbound lanes of Navotas Bridge to give way to the construction of the 2.6-km North Luzon Expressway Link Segment C3 to R10 project.

The closure is expected to affect some 30,000 motorists daily. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority advised light vehicles coming from C3 to R10 or vice versa to use Dagat-Dagatan and Lapu-Lapu Avenues. —WITH REPORTS FROM JACOB LAZARO AND KRIXIA SUBINGSUBING
