‘Goring’ weakens to LPA; ‘habagat’ to dump rain over Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression “Goring” has weakened into a low pressure area (LPA) but cloudy skies and heavy rain will continue to affect Luzon due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” the state weather bureau said on Saturday.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) “Goring” exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) as of 11 p.m. on Friday.

In a 4 a.m. live weather update, weather specialist Meno Mendoza said the southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies and heavy rain over Batanes, the Babuyan Group of Islands, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales and Bataan.

Mendoza added that cloudy skies and scattered rain are expected over Metro Manila on Saturday. /muf
