MANILA, Philippines — Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Rowena Guanzon has revealed receiving threats from an undisclosed sender and being victimized by a “smear campaign” allegedly launched by the Duterte Youth party-list.
It appears the election commissioner knew who was behind the threats but refused to disclose the identities behind it.
“I received this text ‘kapag inipit mo pa din kame at di pa din kame nakaupo ilalabas namin part 2 ng series mo at papakasohan ka pa namen’ Who do u think sent this? obviously,” Guanzon tweeted on Thursday.

The poll body official also clarified that she would not pen the decision on Ronald Cardema’s substitution bid to the pro-administration group although she has been opposing it. But she warned that the “smear campaign” by Cardema’s group would not sit well with other Comelec commissioners. /jpv
