MANILA, Philippines — Five lanes of the Quezon City Elliptical Road will be closed alternately starting next Friday, July 26, to make way for road repairs, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced Thursday.
MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia said the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will fix the five lanes in the center of the Elliptical Road one after another.
“Tuwing tag-ulan ‘yung gitna ng Circle (Elliptical Road), nagbabaha. Paikot yan, nakalubog. Ipapantay ‘yang gitnang yan,” Garcia said in a press conference.
Garcia said the lanes will be closed “reblocking style,” meaning lanes will only be closed from 11 p.m. on Fridays until 5 a.m. on Mondays.
With this scheme, the MMDA official said the repairs will take a year to be finished.
/jpv
