TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol –– Two teenagers were killed when their motorcycle collided with a sport utility vehicle (SUV) on the national highway of Panglao town, on Wednesday night.
Motorcycle driver Marlon Ambi and his back rider Niño Rey Diwang, both 18, and residents of Barangay San Miguel in Dagohoy town, were traversing the national road when they collided head-on with a Nissan Terra in Barangay Bil-isan at 9:50 p.m., said Police Corporal Marlon Cuidadano of Panglao Police Station.
Ambi and Diwang, who worked as construction workers in Panglao, didn’t wear helmets.
Police said the Nissan Terra was driven by Leo Ildefonso Calipusan, 44, a son of Loboc Mayor Leon Calipusan.
Witnesses said the motorcycle was speeding and counterflowing along a national road in Bil-isan before the collision.
Calipusan’s vehicle was severely damaged, but he was unhurt, said Cuidadano.
Cuidadano also said the families of the victims agreed to a settlement with Calipusan. No charges will be filed against Calipusan.
