MANILA, Philippines — The TV5 Network got its franchise renewed for another 25 years after President Rodrigo Duterte did not sign the bill and eventually lapsed into law.
Republic Act 11320 granted the television its franchise renewal after the bill lapsed into law on April 22.
The bill lapses into law 30 days after it was submitted to the President for signature.
TV5 Network got its franchise renewal as Duterte threatens to block the renewal of its rival, ABS-CBN, whose franchise would expire in 2020.
Duterte has slammed ABS-CBN for not airing his 2016 election advertisement and for alleged biased reporting. /jpv
