PACC disowns ‘official’ arrested in Taguig for threatening security guard

MANILA, Philippines — The Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) on Wednesday denied that the man arrested in Taguig City for allegedly threatening a security guard there was one of their officials.

The Taguig City Police earlier reported that Mariano Jose Villafuerte III was arrested on July 15 after he allegedly pulled out a gun during an argument with a security guard in front of a hospital in Fort Bonifacio.

Police said in its report that the suspect was the director for Intelligence Investigation at PACC.

But in an interview with DZMM, PACC chairman Dante Jimenez said the commission does not have a Villafuerte in its list of officials.

He also denied the existence of the supposed PACC unit where the suspect belongs.

“Wala kaming Villafuerte (We don’t have a Villafuerte). That’s why I will really have this investigated,” he said in the interview.

Jimenez said he had already sent a representative to the Taguig City Police to clarify the matter. /kga
