MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Storm “Falcon” (international name Danas) will continue to bring heavy rain over parts of Luzon and Visayas as it maintains its strength and enhances the southwest monsoon or “habagat.”
Moderate to times heavy rain will also be experienced over Isabela, La Union, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, northern Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo Islands, Aklan, and Antique, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
“Falcon” was last spotted 195 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan, moving north northwest at 20 kilometers per hour. It is blowing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 80 kph.
Signal No. 2 remains hoisted over Batanes. Apayao, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte and Babuyan Group of Islands are under Signal No. 1.
Meanwhile, a low pressure area (LPA) was spotted 125 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur. Pagasa said the LPA will also enhance the southwest monsoon and “Falcon.”
“Falcon” is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Friday as it turns into a low pressure area. /muf
