Man drowns in Cagayan River as ‘Falcon’ heads north

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela –– A 45-year-old man drowned in Cagayan River in Gattaran town, Cagayan province at the height of Tropical Storm “Falcon,” authorities said.

Rogelio Sending Jr., acting provincial information officer in Cagayan, on Wednesday said the victim has yet to be identified, but a retrieval operation was underway.

Sending said the man reportedly drowned at a portion of the Cagayan River in Barangay Calaoagan Bassit.

The heavy downpour caused by “Falcon” also triggered a landslide along the Nagattutan Road in Gattaran town, Sending said. /lzb
