CEC, UV beat foes in NBTC hoop
League powerhouse squads Cebu Eastern College (CEC) and the University of the Visayas (UV) came out on top over the weekend as they defeated their respective opponents in the 2011 Seaoil National Basketball Training Center Elite League at the City Sports Club basketball court at the Cebu Business Park.
The Dragons slipped past the University of San Carlos (USC)-South, 72-67, as they leaned on the strength of their prolific wingmen Marvin Bauya and Alfred Sedillo.
Bauya had 18 points while Sedillo chipped in with 17 to tow CEC to another win.
Ian Ortega led USC-South 20 markers.
The UV Baby Lancers also edged the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers, 67-64.
UV, the reigning Cesafi juniors division champion, got 17 from lead guard Nelson Peralta and 16 more from Matthew Ochea.

In the day’s other game, USC-North eked past the Abellana National High School, 79-78.
