14 people hurt as car crashes into wake site in Tabuk City

TABUK CITY — Fourteen people were wounded after a wayward sports utility vehicle (SUV) slammed into a site of a wake along the provincial road here on Monday afternoon, police said.

Wounded were couple Gloria and Victor Lugao, both 64; Grandy Brioso, 29; Mayani Baculi Paga, 32, and her 6-year-old daughter Gretel; Chedri Tomas, 23; Myla Langkit, 39; Bernabe Dangangao, 64; Felipe Oban, 73; Mario Oddoc Jr., 48; Clarita Dongdongan, 69; Evelyn Conted, 66; Alfonso Walding, 46; and David Bumakas, 64, all from Kalinga.

Police Master Sergeant Ruff Manganip, former Kalinga police provincial spokesperson and one of the rescuers, said the victims were attending a wake in Bulanao village when the SUV driven by Aurora Damiling, 47, crashed into the crowd that gathered there.

Investigators said the driver fell asleep while driving. /kga
