Inquirer tech reporter cited

The Philippine Daily Inquirer’s Paolo Montecillo, current president of CyberPress, an organization of journalists covering the technology sector, has won the inaugural Intel Tech Educator of the Year Award.

Technology giant Intel collaborated with CyberPress in recognizing excellent work in IT (information technology) journalism and in communicating technical subjects to educate the mainstream Filipino audience.

Veteran journalists Ruel de Vera, Danilo Arao and Red Samar were the judges.

The award was handed out during the annual CyberPress IT Awards, where the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Traffic Navigator (TNAV) was named Information Technology Product of the Year.

TNAV is a collaboration between the MMDA and Interaksyon.com, the online news and public affairs arm of broadcast network TV5. TNAV gives motorists free traffic information 24/7.

Other CyberPress awardees were Internet Corp. for Assigned Names and Numbers director Judith Duavit-Vasquez, who was named IT Executive of the Year, and Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co., IT Company of the Year. Riza T. Olchondra
