Manila mayor eyeing state-of-the-art public hospital

MANILA, Philippines – Manila Mayor Isko Moreno is planning to build a state-of-the-art public hospital for the benefit of his constituents in his first term as the capital city’s chief executive.

Moreno on Tuesday said that he is eyeing a Makati Medical Center –like facility with top quality services.

“Our dream, our goal is to build, to make Makati Medical Center as a peg for public hospital in terms of facilities and support ng local,” Moreno said in a press conference.

“I think in line what Secretary of Health [Francisco Duque III] is doing, sabayan na natin sila to provide good quality,” he added.

According to Moreno, it would be nice to imagine a public hospital with glass windows facing the bay on sunset hours.

The Ospital ng Maynila is situated along Quirino Avenue corner Roxas Boulevard in Malate.

He said that this dream of his administration is currently “on track” but no budget has so far been allocated.

“Of course we wanted to have it in the next two years, hopefully, if constructed properly and tamang timeline,” he said in a chance interview after the press briefing.

“But so far, we are on track in terms of design, planning. This will consume time e, but we are maximizing time and so far on the dot kami,” Moreno added. /gsg
