24/7 operations eyed for Taguig health centers

THROUGH a new disaster preparedness budget provided by the city council, Taguig Mayor Ma. Laarni Cayetano has tapped four health centers in the city to operate 24/7. In a statement, Cayetano said round-the-clock medical services would initially be available in four health centers as part of the city’s disaster preparedness program. “It is my commitment as mayor … to look after the health of all Taguigeños. This is what spurred me to make the city’s medical services more accessible to them,” she said. Eventually, Cayetano said she plans to make all the city’s 28 health centers operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week so that residents could seek immediate medical attention. The health centers can also augment disaster management efforts when the need arises, she added. At the same time, Cayetano called on doctors and other health professionals in the city to support the program by giving their time to the project. “Taguig needs doctors who are ready and willing to sacrifice in the name of public service,” she said.
