SHAH ALAM — Nur Salsabila Mohd Fakrul Khair, 16, and her sister, Nur Ain Sumayyah, 13 were home alone at their house at Lot 210A Jalan Utama Kampung Indah, Banting, about 50km from here, when a fire broke out at about 2:45 am.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Hafisham Mohd Noor said they were trapped and perished in the blaze.
He said their bodies were found by the rescue team in the bedroom.
“They were alone in the house because their parents had gone out to help to prepare food for firemen involved in the firefighting operation at the chemical plant at Pulau Indah Industrial Park, Port Klang,” he said when contacted here on Sunday (July 14).
“Two fire engines, from the Banting and KLIA fire stations, with 17 firefighters were despatched to the scene. The house was made of planks, causing the fire to spread quickly.
“However, we managed to bring it under control in two minutes and extinguished the flames completely in 10 minutes,” he said.
He added that the cause of the fire was still under investigation, and that the bodies of the siblings were sent to Banting Hospital.
No casualties were reported in the Pulau Indah Industrial Park incident. Bernama
