MANILA, Philippines — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) raised a yellow alert warning in the Luzon grid on Friday, July 12.
In an advisory, the NGCP said the yellow alert raised on the Luzon grid will take effect from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Luzon grid’s available capacity is at 11,208 megawatts and its peak demand is significantly close at 10,738 megawatts.
“Details on the cause [will] be announced by the Department of Energy (DOE) later in the day,” the advisory read.
The NGCP previously raised a yellow alert on the country’s largest grid on Thursday due to very low power reserves.

According to the DOE, a yellow alert is usually raised “when a power grid’s power reserve, the difference between supply and demand, is below the required level.”
A yellow alert does not lead to power outages, the DOE added. /jpv
