The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has seized four shipments containing misdeclared agricultural products worth P15.5 million from China.
The misdeclared shipments, which arrived at the Manila International Container Port on separate dates last month, were issued corresponding alert orders after examinations conducted by BOC officers revealed discrepancies in the weight and declared value of the shipments.
Based on X-ray and physical inspection, one of the four shipments was declared as 3,300 boxes of apples but contained red onions.
Two other shipments were declared as red beans but contained 5,300 sacks of refined sugar, worth P9.6 million.
