MANILA, Philippines—A teenager died while three others were injured after they were hacked Sunday evening by a drunk man for no apparent reason in Quezon province, Senior Police Officer 2 Eman Orivida said Monday.

He said the lone fatality, Myra Ferrer, 16, was traversing Sitio (settlement) Biñas, Barangay (village) Laguna, Gumaca, Quezon, on board a habal-habal (motorized tricycle) with other victims Rona Lacdao, 34; Anselmo Canela, 47; Shaena Ferrer, 5, when suspect Herbert Lubugin Cotoner,26, appeared, drew his bolo and hacked the four victims.

He said all victims sustained hack wounds in different parts of their bodies and were rushed to Gumaca District Hospital for medical treatment. Myra was, however, declared dead on arrival by the attending physician, while Lacdao and Ferrer were later transferred to a hospital in Lucena City.
