MANILA, Philippines — Ang Probinsyano Rep. Alfred Delos Santos punched a waiter at a restaurant in Legazpi, Albay on Saturday, the party-list’s spokesman confirmed Thursday.

In a statement, Atty. Joco Sabio said their party-list, which won two seats in the 18th Congress, is now conducting its own “impartial” probe on the incident at Biggs Diner involving their first nominee.

“Definitely we will not tolerate any kind of abuse in our party. We will not hesitate to suspend or even remove Congressman Delos Santos if we establish that this was an unprovoked attack,” Sabio said.

A closed-circuit television footage contributed to INQUIRER.net and a police blotter sent to reporters bared that the party-list lawmaker punched the service crew, Christian Kent Alejo, 20, while the congressman and his friends were dining out.

“Christian Kent Alejo… appeared to this station and requested to put in record that allegedly at around 3:40AM of July 7, 2019, while he was at Biggs Diner and working, one of their customers, Alfred Delos Santos of Legazpi City punched him without any apparent reason,” the blotter of Police Community Precinct 2 in Legazpi reads.

Despite the flak that Ang Probinsyano party-list is getting due to the incident, Sabio said they would still accord Delos Santos due process.

“His actions and his decisions are his own and should not reflect on Ang Probinsyano as a party and as an organization,” the spokesman added. /je
