Explosion rocks QC restaurant
MANILA, Philippines – An explosion rocked the facade of a restaurant in Quezon City past midnight Thursday.
A witness told operatives from the Kamuning police station that the explosion occurred at around 12:40a.m. in front of the Chung Mi Rae Korean Restaurant along Scout Tuazon Street corner Timog Avenue in Barangay South Triangle.
The Quezon City Police District’s Explosives Ordnance Disposal team arrived at the scene and said an MK2 fragmentation hand grenade caused the explosion.
Two parked vehicles in front of the restaurant sustained minor damage.
The witness said a man clad in black shirt and denim pants, around 5’6 tall and in his 30s hurled the explosive at the establishment.
Police MSgt. Roldan Cornejo and Maj. Joseph Infante said further investigation is ongoing. /gsg
