TODAY, March 21, is the 77th death anniversary of composer, pianist and teacher Nicanor Abelardo who is known for his compositions like “Mutya ng Pasig” and “UP Beloved,” the anthem of the University of the Philippines. With more than 140 works, Abelardo was already composing music at the age of eight. The main theater of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, and the UP College of Music were named after him.
