Cops arrest 2 suspected robbers in Manila

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities on Monday said that they arrested two suspected robbers in Sampaloc, Manila Sunday night.

Police Officer 1 Paul Bermudez of Station 4 of the Manila Police District said that they nabbed Ronald Magtibay, 31, alias “Macho”, and Michael Zarsuelo, 24, alias “Mike”, both from Quezon province, along Vicente Cruz Street at around 10:15 p.m.

He said that he was patrolling along the street with another officer when they spotted the two “suspicious-looking” men on board a Honda Wave motorbike (ZN-6377).

“They wore no helmets and tried to flee when we tried to flag them down. When we finally caught up with them, they could not produce documents for the motorcycle,” stated Bermudez.

Recovered from the suspects were a .45 caliber replica, three knives, two bonnets, and six mobile phones.

He said that they were checking whether the motorbike used by the suspects had been stolen after the two admitted to “tying up an Indian national in Caloocan City earlier.”

“We have already coordinated with Caloocan City police but there are no updates yet,” Bermudez said, adding that the two have been in their custody since and have underwent inquest Monday morning.
