MANILA, Philippines — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) on Monday raised yellow alert over the Luzon grid.

The NGCP said the yellow alert would take effect from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

A yellow alert is raised when a grid’s reserve power—the difference between supply and demand—is below the required level, the NGCP said.

The power grid operator said available capacity as of 8 a.m. was at 11,042 megawatts (MW) while peak demand was at 10,546 MW, leaving a reserve of 496 MW.

“Details on the cause to be announced by the Department of Energy (DOE) later in the day,” the NGCP said.
